Ravi Shankar is an Indian hindustani classical music composer and sitar player. He was born on 7 April 1920, in Varanasi, United Provinces, British Raj. During 1956, he toured throughout the US and Europe. He achieved initial success in the early 1960s for his professional collaboration with Yehudi Menuhin and George Harrison from The Beatles band. He achieved mainstream success in the middle 1960s with his breakthrough album, Sound of the Sitar, which included several singles such as "Raga Malkauns (Alap)", "Raga Malkauns (Jor)", "Tala Sawari" and "Pahari Dhun (Instrumental)".
