British indie-rock band Reverend and the Makers was formed in Sheffield, England in 2005. The band go its name due the nick name the band’s leader Jon McClure. The other band members are Ed Cosens, Tom Rowley, Joe Moskow, Stuart Doughty and of Laura Manuel. McClure is known to be a fan of John Cooper Clarke and he reads his own poems between the songs during the live shows. The Poem Last Resort was published on the back cover of the band’s debut single Heavyweight Champion Of The World. This single entered the first album The State of Things which reached #5 on the UK albums charts. Other album singles were He Said He Loved Me (UK Indie #1), Open Your Window (UK Indie #1).
