Robbie Robertson, birth name Jaime Royal Klegerman was born on July 5, 1943 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is a Canadian rock and folk rock singer-songwriter and guitarist who is known best of all as guitarist and primary songwriter in the popular rock group The Band. They were very popular from the end of the 1960s until their break up in 1976. Robertson wrote many of their hit songs including, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Up On Cripple Creek, Broken Arrow etc. As a member of The Band, he was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Canadian Music Hall of Fame. After The Band had broken up, Robertson was involved in other projects like music producing for the film, and record producing of some artists. Later, he embarked on his solo career.
