Sam Cooke (January 22, 1931 – December 11, 1964) was an American gospel, R&B, soul and pop singer and songwriter. At the age of 25, he released his debut breakthrough pop hit, "Lovable", which was a huge success. At the same year, he signed with Keen Records and began recording his first self-titled album, which later reached number 16 in the US. His most popular and successful album, The Man and His Music, was released posthumously, in 1986. This album produced the hit singles such as "You Send Me", "Twistin' the Night Away", "Bring It On Home To Me" and "Chain Gang". The album's first single, "You Send Me", peaked at Top Ten on both the Billboard Pop and R&B singles charts.
