Saul Williams is an American hip hop, Spoken word, poetry, electronic and industrial hip hop singer, musician and actor. He was born on February 29, 1972, in Newburgh, New York. He is also well known for the performances with various artists and legendary poets including Nas, The Fugees, Christian Alvarez, Blackalicious, Erykah Badu, KRS-One, Zack De La Rocha, De La Soul, DJ Krust, Allen Ginsberg and Sonia Sanchez. He achieved mainstream success with his self-titled album, which received generally positive critical reviews. It also produced several hit singles such as "Talk to Strangers" (featuring Serj Tankian on piano), "Black Stacey" (featuring Isaiah "Ikey" Owens on piano organ), "Surrender (A Second to Think)" and "Control Freak". To support the album he went on tour through Europe. During this tour, he was an opening act for Nine Inch Nails.
