Sidney Schechtel, better known as Sydney Sheldon was an American novelist writing crime fiction and thrillers. He was born on February 11, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, the United States and died on January 30, 2007 in Rancho Migare, California, the United States. He started his writing career when he was about 50, at the end of the 1960s. However it was his novels that made him famous. He wrote several successful musicals for Broadway before starting to write and wrote screenplay for series. His debut novel The Naked Face was written in 1969 and earned his popularity at once. The novel was nominated for the Edgar Allan Poe Award. His next novel The Other Side of Midnight became The New York Times bestseller. He is remembered for such novels like Rage of Angels, If Tomorrow Comes, Nothing Lasts Forever, The Sky Falling and many others.
