Jean Sibelius, birth name Johan Julius Christian Sibelius, was born on December 8, 1865 in Hämeenlinna in the Russian Grand Duchy of Finland and died on September 20, 1957 in Järvenpää, Finland. He is ethnic Swede and his family supported and cultivated Sweden culture in their family but he was sent to Finnish-language school. In 1885 he entered Imperial University in Helsinki where he studied law but later he gave up his studies as he discovered his interest in music. He studied music in Berlin and in Vienna and upon his come back in Finland he debuted as a composer. During his long music career he created seven symphonies, symphonic poems Finlandia, En Saga, Tapiola, wrote music for thater drammas.
