British-American rapper Slick Rick, known also as MC Ricky D and Rick the Ruler, birth name Richard Walters was born on January 14 1965 in London, England. His family moved to the United States in 1975. Walters was popular at the end of 1980s when he released several hits and successful albums. The debut album The Great Adventures of Slick Rick went on Platinum and reached the top spot of the R&B/Hip-hop chart spawning such singles like "Teenage Love", "Children's Story" and "Hey Young World". Slick Rick earned some wealth and was known to wear lots of jewelry including thick necklaces, huge rings and a gold tooth. He shot his cousin whom he had hired as his bodyguard and was sentenced to five years in jail. He was released in 1999. That year saw his last album to date The Art of Storytelling.
