Solange Knowles is an American R&B, pop and soul singer-songwriter and actress. She was born on born June 24, 1986, in Houston, Texas, U.S. She is also well known as the younger sister of R&B diva Beyoncé. When she was 16, she signed to her father's recording company, Music World Entertainment. In the beginning, she performed as a backup singer for Destiny's Child. She also collaborated with Lil Romeo, Timbaland and Kelly Rowland. In 2003, she released her debut album, Solo Star, which yielded the hit singles, "Feelin' You (Part II)" (featuring N.O.R.E.), "Crush", "True Love" (featuring Lil' Romeo), "Naive" (duet with Beyoncé featuring Da Brat) and "Thinkin' about You" (featuring Murphy Lee). Five years later, she released her following album, Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams, which reached number 9 on the U.S. Billboard 200.
