Biography

Stephen Lawrence Winwood, better known as Steve Winwood was born on May 12, 1948 in Handsworth, Birmingham, England. He is an English rock, blues, soul and jazz singer-songwriter who plays guitar, mandolin, violin, drums, organ, bass and keyboards. Winwood is a multiple winner of Grammy Awards and he is included in the Rolling Stone list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time being at number 33. Before embarking on a solo career, he was playing in the range of bands, for example in Blind Faith along with Eric Clapton. He released his debut solo album in 1977. His next effort Arc of a Diver was of a more success, reaching number 3 on the Billboard 200. During his career, he has released one album that topped the chart. It was 1988 Roll With It.
