Biography

English alternative rock band Supergrass was formed in Oxford, England in 1993. The band is led by brothers Coombes – Gaz is on lead vocals and guitar and Rob is on keyboards. Other members are Dammy Goffey (drums and backing vocals) and Mick Quinn (bass and backing vocals). The founding members previously played in the band the Jennifers. The band was heavily influenced by such acts like Buzzcocks, The Jam and Madness and at the same time The Kinks, The Small Faces and even T.Rex. The band reached the mainstream and commercial success. They were recognized by such awards like Ivor Novello, Mercury Prize and three BRIT Awards. Six of their albums entered the top 10 on the UK Albums chart. Some of their singles reached top ten as well including «Alright / Time» and «Richard III».
