American alternative rock and folk singer, songwriter and record producer Suzanne Vega, birth name Suzanne Nadine Vega was born on July 11, 1959 in Santa Monica, California, the United States. She released her debut self-titled album in 1985 and it was welcomed by critics. The album received Platinum status in the UK. The sophomore album Solitude Standing was released in two years and became a crucial even in Vega’s career. The album has a commercial and critical success, which propelled her to the international prominence. The album was supported by two hit singles Luka, and Tom’s Diner. In total, she released seven studio albums, including Days of Open Hand, 99.9F, Nine Objects to Desire, Songs in Red and Grey and Beauty & Crime.
