Teddy Pendergrass, birth name Theodore DeReese Pendergrass was born on March 26, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States and died on January 13, 2010 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, United States. He was an American R&B, soul, jazz and gospel singer who rose to fame during the 1970s as a member of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. After that, he embarked on a successful solo career. During his career, he has released 13 studio albums. The debut album Teddy Pendergrass came out in 1977 and the last album You and I was released in 1997. He received five Grammy nominations but didn’t win any of them. As a solo artist, he has released several hit singles like "The More I Get the More I Want," "Close the Door," "I Don't Love You Anymore," "Turn Off the Lights" and others.
