Teena Marie (birth name Mary Christine Brockert) is an American R&B and soul singer–songwriter and record producer. She was born on March 5, 1956, Santa Monica, California, United States. She signed with Motown Records in 1976. She rose to fame in 1979 with her debut album, Wild and Peaceful, which peaked at number 18 on the Black Albums chart and number 94 on the Billboard Albums chart. The album's lead single, "I'm a Sucker For Your Love", reached number 8 on the US Black Singles chart and number 43 in the United Kingdom.
