Biography

Weezer is an American alternative rock and pop punk band that was formed in 1992 and originally consisted of Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, lead guitar), Patrick Wilson (drums, backing vocals), Matt Sharp (bass, backing vocals), and Jason Cropper (rhythm guitar, backing vocals). Cropper was later replaced by Brian Bell. Matt Sharp was subsequently replaced by Mikey Welsh who was later replaced with Scott Shriner. Many modern bands, such as Bloc Party, Manchester Orchestra, Brand New, The Fall of Troy and The Geno Parzo list the band as an influence. They achieved mainstream success in 1994 with their breakthrough debut album, Weezer, also known as The Blue Album, which yielded two hit singles "Undone - The Sweater Song" and "Buddy Holly".
