Biography

American alternative country band Whiskeytown was from Raleigh, North Carolina. The band was founded in 1994 by Ryan Adams – vocals, rhythm guitar, Caitlin Cary – fiddle, vocals, percussion, Eric "Skillet" Gilmore – drums, percussion, Steve Grothmann – bass guitar and Phil Wandscher – lead guitar, vocals. The band’s line-up changed many times; the only constant members were Adams and Cary. They disbanded in 1999 when Adams decided to embark on solo career. The band established their name on the alternative country scene and they are considered very influential act like Uncle Tupelo, The Jayhawks and The Old 97’s. The band has released three studio albums, three extended plays and many compilations. They have also two unreleased albums.
